How to pick a garage floor flake color

Flake blends mix three to five chip colors over a pigmented base coat. At full broadcast the base is mostly covered, so the blend decides the look. The base still shows at edges and through smaller chips, which is why we match it to the blend.

Light blends

Grays, whites and light tans brighten a dark garage and make tools and dropped screws easy to spot. They show tire marks a bit more between cleanings.

Dark blends

Charcoals and deep blues hide salt residue, dirt and tire marks best, which is why they are popular for Chicago garages that see a lot of winter traffic.

Chip size

Smaller chips give a fine, granite-like texture. Larger chips make a bolder pattern and hide more imperfections in the slab.

Gloss or satin

A high-gloss top-coat reflects light and looks showroom clean. Satin shows fewer scratches and reads more natural. Both clean the same way.

Choosing a color

How to pick a garage floor color you will love

The visualizer shows flake blends and solid colors on a real garage so you can compare them side by side. A few tips from our installs help narrow it down.

Pick for real life, not just looks

  • Mid-tone flake blends such as gray, tan and black mixes hide dust, salt residue and tire marks best.
  • Very light solid colors look bright but show dirt quickly in a working garage.
  • Very dark solids show dust and scratches more than a flake blend.

Match your home

Look at your siding, trim, cabinets and garage door. Cool gray blends pair well with modern and white exteriors. Warm tan and brown blends suit brick and earth-tone homes.

Flake size changes the look

Quarter-inch flake gives a bold, natural stone look and is our most common garage choice. Smaller flake reads as a finer, more uniform texture. Learn more in the flake epoxy floor guide.
