What polished concrete is
Polished concrete is not a coating. We grind the slab itself with progressively finer diamond tooling, harden it with a chemical densifier and polish it until it reflects light. The finish is part of the concrete, so there is nothing to peel, chip or delaminate.
It is a favorite for retail stores, showrooms, offices, warehouses, restaurants and modern homes around Chicago because it is bright, durable and cheap to maintain.
Our polishing process
Grinding
Coarse diamonds remove coatings, adhesives and surface defects and set the level of aggregate exposure you want, from a cream finish to a salt-and-pepper or full aggregate look.
Densifying
A chemical densifier soaks into the slab and reacts to harden the surface, which improves abrasion resistance and cuts down concrete dust.
Honing and polishing
Finer and finer resin-bond diamonds take the floor from matte to satin to high gloss. You choose the sheen.
Guard and sealer
A penetrating guard helps resist stains from oil, coffee and other spills and makes daily cleaning easier.
