How to choose an epoxy floor color

Three things decide how a color looks once it is down: the finish system (flake, metallic or solid), the base coat underneath, and the light in the room. A blend that looks light on a small chip can read darker across a full 2-car garage, so we show you physical samples at your estimate before you decide.

  • Hides dirt best: mid-tone flake blends that mix black, gray and white chips, such as Granite Gray, Salt and Pepper and Chicago Steel.
  • Brightest room: light blends over a gray or white base coat.
  • Shows every tire mark: solid dark colors and pure black.
  • Most dramatic: metallic epoxy, because the pigment moves in the resin and no two floors match.

Flake epoxy color chart

Flake floors are our most common garage floor coating. Vinyl color chips are broadcast into the base coat until the floor is fully covered, then sealed under a clear topcoat. These are the blends in our visualizer.

Chicago Steel

Black, slate, light gray and white with a blue accent chip.

Best for: Modern garages. Hides salt residue and dust well.

Granite Gray

Charcoal, mid gray, light gray and white.

Best for: The safest all-around garage choice.

Salt and Pepper

Black, white and gray in high contrast.

Best for: A classic, clean look for garages and workshops.

Midnight

Near-black, graphite and gray with a blue accent.

Best for: Dark, sleek garages and showrooms.

Coastal Blue

Navy, medium blue, pale blue, white and gray.

Best for: Basements, home gyms and playrooms.

Desert Tan

Brown, tan, beige, cream and dark brown.

Best for: Warm homes with brick or wood trim.

Harbor

Deep green, sage, pale gray, off-white and black.

Best for: Mudrooms, workshops and earthy interiors.

Brick Red

Oxblood, red, blush, cream and charcoal.

Best for: Bold garages, team colors and retail floors.

Swatches on screen are approximate. Chip colors vary slightly by manufacturer and batch, so pick your final blend from a physical sample. Smaller chips read as a tighter, granite-like texture; larger chips show more individual color.

Metallic epoxy colors

Metallic epoxy is mixed and moved by hand while the resin is wet, so these tones are starting points, not fixed patterns. Most floors combine a main color with one or two accent pigments.

Silver Pearl

Charcoal Storm

Copper

Bronze

Ocean Blue

Pearl White

Metallic pigment creates movement and depth that a flat swatch cannot fully show.

Solid color epoxy

Solid colors suit commercial epoxy flooring, workshops and warehouses where a clean, uniform look and line striping matter. We can add anti-slip aggregate to any solid color.

Gray

Shop floors, garages

Charcoal

Showrooms, dark garages

Tan

Warehouses, basements

Blue

Gyms, branded spaces

White

Clean rooms, bright shops

Safety Yellow

Line striping and walkways

Open the Garage Floor Color Visualizer to try any blend on a garage floor, change the base color and chip size, and save the image for your estimate. Color does not change the price of a flake or solid floor; square footage, slab condition and the system do. Epoxy floor color questions

What is the most popular epoxy garage floor color?

Gray-based flake blends, such as Granite Gray and Chicago Steel, are the most common choice for garages because they hide salt residue, dust and tire marks between cleanings.

Does the color change the price?

Not for flake or solid color floors. Metallic epoxy costs more because it is poured and worked by hand.

Will my epoxy floor color fade or yellow?

Plain epoxy can amber over time in direct sunlight. A UV-stable topcoat helps colors hold in garages that spend a lot of time with the door open. Ask us which topcoat fits your space at your estimate.

Can I get a custom blend?

Often, yes. Custom chip blends are available from most coating suppliers but can add lead time, so bring it up early in your estimate.
