Polyaspartic Garage Floor Coating in Chicago
A full-broadcast flake floor with a fast-curing, UV-stable polyaspartic system. Walk on it within hours, keep true color in the sun, and install later into the cold season than standard epoxy allows.
What a polyaspartic garage floor is
Polyaspartic is a fast-curing coating in the polyurea family. On a garage floor we install it as a full system: a base coat, a full broadcast of color flakes, and a clear polyaspartic topcoat. It looks like a flake epoxy floor, but it cures in hours instead of days, holds its color in sunlight and can go down in colder weather.
For Chicago garages that means less downtime, a finish that does not amber when the door is open all summer, and a surface built to handle road salt, snowmelt and hot tires.
Why Chicago homeowners choose polyaspartic
- Back in use fast: most polyaspartic floors take foot traffic within hours and vehicles in about a day, depending on temperature and product.
- Cold-weather installs: standard epoxy generally needs a slab around 50ยฐF or warmer. Polyaspartic cures at much lower temperatures, which stretches the install season into late fall and winter.
- UV-stable color: aliphatic polyaspartic topcoats resist yellowing, so light flake blends stay true near open doors and windows.
- Tough surface: strong resistance to abrasion, road salt, oil and hot tire pickup when it goes down over a properly ground slab.

How much does a polyaspartic garage floor cost?
Polyaspartic costs more per square foot than a standard epoxy flake floor, because the material is more expensive and the fast cure takes an experienced crew. National cost guides commonly put professionally installed systems at roughly $5 to $12 per square foot. Your number depends on square footage, how much grinding and crack repair the slab needs, and your flake blend. We give a written price after a free on-site measure. Polyaspartic garage floor FAQs
Is polyaspartic better than epoxy?
For most garages in a cold climate, the faster cure, UV stability and cold-weather install make polyaspartic the stronger choice. Epoxy still makes sense for basements, interior shops and budget-driven projects.
How long does a polyaspartic garage floor last?
Over a properly ground and repaired slab, a residential polyaspartic flake floor commonly lasts 15 years or more.
Is polyaspartic slippery when wet?
Any glossy coating can be slick when wet. A full flake broadcast adds texture, and we can add an anti-slip additive to the topcoat.
Can polyaspartic go over an old epoxy floor?
Only if the existing coating is well bonded. In most cases we grind off failing epoxy first, because a new coating is only as strong as what is under it.
